out-of-date eggs

I have some eggs in the fridge that are a week out of their best before date...can they still be eaten?

The saying goes that if eggs are off they float in water and if they're still ok they will sink. Try and see lol :-)
If an egg is off, you will smell it when you crack it open.

Eggs will keep well beyond their sell by date (I'm talking a month or more here) and will still be fine.

But I would also advise you to use berylliums method!
as we don't eat many eggs, if i buy 6 it usually ends up that we eat a couple immediately and the rest are eaten when they're well past their sell/use by date. we've never had a problem. i imagine if you were pregnant, old or infirm, or a baby, it wouldn't be such a good idea though. also, i don't keep eggs in the fridge, just in a holder on the worktop.
ooo yuck, i chuck once past their sell by date, i hesitate if its on the day they go off too!!
You can also spin an egg round on its side then stop it quickly and release it. If it carries on spinning it's fine. Saves getting it wet!

LOL a year out of date wow! I still have the egs in the fridge and will try them out today!
