I've eaten OOD egss before but I usually keep mine in the fridge.
*eggs
Refrigerated eggs will keep for about 4 to 5 weeks beyond the pack date or about 3 weeks after you bring them home."

put them in jug/glass of water if they float they are bad if they sink they are ok.
I am with 4get on this one - I put them in a deepish bowl and if the air pocket makes them float, I would consider it past usable.
Also you will be able to tell by the smell.
eat 'em, they'll be fine. i regularly use eggs well past their use by date (up to 6 weeks), unless they smell bad, and have never come to any harm. and i don't keep them in the fridge either.

If they cheep....feed & keep in cardboard box in airing cupboard.
