Is there a reason why I shouldn,t put a partly used onion in the fridge?All be it covered in cling film.

No reason I can think of Denis. Go on I dare you.
In my house the half used onion (either wrapped in cling film or sitting in a tupperware box) in the fridge doesn't cause too many fights with the other (whole) vegetables in there ! I find it's the mushrooms that are more troublesome.....
No problem. Consider that onions are a plant bulb, and these can spend over half the year in cool ground in a dormant state.
I think its because it can make your fridge smell even when covered and can make other foods in the fridge taste of it.
