I'm holding a sophisticated dinner party soon -really trying to impress. What wine would go best with the main course, which will be a kipper souffle? Money no expense.

i'm thinking the kipper souffle will have a lighter flavour than the smoked kipper taste we all know and love. in which case i would suggest a frascati, cheap as chips, talking of chips why doesnt my local fish n chip shop sell kippers?
No, you'm wanting mangelwurzels and turnips. Much noicer.
'cos Jorton ate 'em all, treacle.

Champagne never fails to impress me....I would suggest Krug or Bolly (both go wonderfully well with kippers)
Somehow I can't see kipper soufle as being part of a sophisticated dinrer part. As a wine suggestion I'd agree with those recommending Champagne - but go for a grande marque, I would suggest 'Grand Dame' from Veuve Cliquot at around 60 a bottle. Tesco's stock it.
Blue Nun or Black Tower..............lovely.
Another thought, if money really is no object, then a magnum looks really classy...
Winston Churchill (I think) said that a magnum of champagne was just enough for two people, himself and the wine waiter...
Money no expense? Wouldn't that mean free? In which case I suggest stealing a case of Moet and Chandon from the local Offy.
Tell us what you chose and how the party went won't you?
I don't know about the fact money has no limit for you.... you can get high quality wine for a great price if you know the right people. Anyway since you are looking for that something special I would recommend Chateau Montcabrier which is a great wine that the House of Lords apparently buys a lot of: http://www.capitaldri...-0104-75cl-p-804.html

The American wines these days are also a big hit so the one that I have tried is the Kingfish Chardonay which is delicious with fish: http://www.capitaldri...-2005-750ml-p-79.html

If I try some more, will let you know.
