I would probably say meat and potato because they are more likely to give you more potato than meat. Potato is less fattening than meat.
unless you are worried about the carbs etc, I would say chicken and mushroom

mmmm.....pies! My favourite cold day treat!

Isn't fat okay and carbs that are bad for you? I would say the beef and onion or steak and kidney. I've never had a steak and kidney - does that mean "kidney beans" or "kidney as in the organ?"

Potato is not necessarily less fattening than potato- it depends on th fat content of the meat. Potato will be bulk and keep you feeling full for longer... Cheese is the most fattening. I reckon chicken and mushroom would be your best bet. But I realy wouldn't worry about it-- you don't do it everyday! Get which ever one you LIKE the most and get back to normal tomorrow.
* sorry- I meant beef!!
You taking the P*SS ?

no . taking the "pies". sorry you may have to change your name

It depends on various factors:

a) whether lean meat is used, or meat which a high volume of fat;

b) whether low fat cheese is used; and

c) whether butter is added to the potato in the meat pie.

Generally speaking, I would suggest a chicken and mushroom pie would be lower in calories, but only if it doesn't contain a creamy sauce! You can make a healthy pie by using a low fat pastry, just on the top, like a lid and none underneath the filling, and keep the lean and low salt.

The pie to avoid if you are health conscious is a pork pie, I watched a program in which chef Gary Rhodes made one and at least half of it comprised of pork fat, lard and salt.
..don't bother with a pie...they are all loaded with fat, you would be better off having a fish without the chips and removing the batter...(but only if you have will power of steel)....
All the pies are deep fried anyway. As Scarlett says it doesn't matter as long as it is an occasional treat.
Never had steak & kidney, metagirl? you HAVE led a sheltered life! It's kidney as in the organ - lovely. And Gef, what on earth kind of chippy do you go to where they deep-fry pies? Not Scottish, are you......?

The difference between the fat content of one pie filling or another would probably be pretty insignificant when compared with the total fat content of the meal as a whole (pastry casing, chips etc.)

Still, there's no harm, assuming you are not eating them every day.

If you want to be amazed with certain cuisine, come and have a deep fried pizza slice...with chips and curry sauce of course
Why are you asking anyway kopend, general interest or are you watching your weight?

FUNNYWEBSITE.

we had a pie for lunch yesterday and my mate said his cheese and onion was healthier than my steak pudding .

I think I'll give that a miss, nickmo - I'll just stay with the Keo!
Spot on Narolines. I'm not Scottish but I've lived up here for 35 years. Never touch them myself but the locals insist that the pies are better deep fried - and the pizza. Myself I prefer the low calorie deep fried blabk pudding or haggis :-)
And there was me thinking perhaps I oughn't to perpetuate a cultural(?) stereotype.....! :-)
sorry just read the answer about fat being good for you and carbs being bad. aaaaarghh!!!!

if people do some bloody exercise then carbs are ace coz their slow burn energy.
