It's duck breast, dauphinoise potatoes and greens. Cook duck Friday for dinner but OH fell asleep. Didn't get a chance to eat it yesterday.

As soon as it was cooked and cooled down it was wrapped and boxed and has been in the fridge since.

I'm reluctant to throw out some perfectly pink duck.

Really, I have. We're not talking rare, it's cooked through but still pink.

I take it you don't eat sushi?
I thought sushi was fish, not meat or poultry.
You are going to eat your duck, whatever people say,so just get on with it
Ummmm, you're now being silly.
I can't understand this fashion for half cooked poultry -and pork now apparently. I have had pink duck and don't like the taste, I like my duck Confit cooked forever in its own fat Yum! I would eat the duck but cut it into slivers fry until crispy, add the plum sauce and serve over rice. No way would I eat pink duck that had been in the fridge 48 hours. Just cos you've never had food poisoning doesn't mean you'll never get it.
APG....LOL....well said.

I didn't realise there was a fashion for it. I would never eat under cooked white meat.

Sqad - You can get food poisoning from fish too. And I haven't made my mind up yet. I still might not eat it. I'll feed it to my son when he gets home :-)

Piggy - How am I being silly. Like I said, pink meat doesn't mean under cooked meat.
Try it out on next doors DoDo , first
According to some, pink duck is fine for the same reason pink beef is. It's a red, not a white, meat...so can be served pink, as it remains moist.
Have to agree with Sqad and APG here- be very careful eating any pink meat of the fowl family- I would heat it to piping hot if I were you.
There would be no chance in our house.. straight in the bin.
Love it .. absolute conflicting information and advice on the same subject. Nobody will suffer.. maybe ummmm's OH will be shouting Hughie down the pan later?
Each to their own, but sorry, I can't grasp why anyone takes chances with old food.
Pasta -you can't overcook duck in my opinion, it has so much fat in it .
Ummmmm you just have to watch Masterchef to see how 'fashionable' it now is to consume meat half cooked. Pork was never ever eaten pink -its now acceptable apparently. Same with Lamb.
All birds have a certain amount of salmonella in their insides which is only killed with high temperatures -this means if you take the breasts off the carcass and well away from the insides, you can risk eating the meat pink if you like the taste. But eat it straight away not leave it.
I can't believe you would feed someone that duck knowing you could poison them -I hope you are jiking!
I`ve eaten cold, pink duck served up as a starter in business class on aircraft. And those meals are produced under strict conditions. No way, would pink duck make it onto the plane if it was a liability.
Geez, it’s only a bit of duck , I’m sure ummmm knows how to reheat food properly .ummm, don’t tell us what you decide to do :-)

For as long as I can remember I've been asked how I would like my steak/duck/tuna cooked. I've never been asked how I want my chicken/pork/fish.

Anyone up for steak tartar :-) Or maybe a couple of oysters...
No one is suggesting pink duck is a 'liability ' for goodness sake read the thread -its about eating pink duck that is 48 hours old.
