Yep, let's see,
You can't just reduce the price of healthy foods. All suppliers have their "overheads" to take into account.
Too many people,I believe, are totally ignorant on what is healthy food and what is not in any case.

So it got nowt to do with health but to do with profits ?
Food manufacturers or suppliers do not really concern themselves with providing the consumer with either healthful or unhealthful food. They provide the choices and it is up to the consumer to decide which type to buy.
I would eat more healthy food if it were more affordable, I understand they have overheads etc... but surely and economically if they lowered the prices more folk would buy their products.

To be fair we always eat healthily, decent quality meats, lots of fish and lots of fresh veg. Four adults in the house during the week and we are all decent cooks so it shares out quite easily.
Lots of fast food is unhealthy and more expensive than home made, but for convenience, it is an easy choice.
Salad and veg are very cheap.
Issues like this can't be blamed on the consumer. It's the manufacturers responsibility and the food standards responsibility to irradiate problem foods.
Ummm, fast food is so cheap. Then you get healthy fast food, and it's 50% the price
on top*
Then cook it at home. I could buy a week's worth of fruit and veg for the price of a takeaway.

Would they irradiate them with photon beams, Spath? ;-)
Food was irradiated in the US to kill bugs and make it last longer....not sure if it still is....it looks like it is https://www.fda.gov/food/buy-store-serve-safe-food/food-irradiation-what-you-need-know
also there are roolz for doing it in the UK....have never seen it here though
https://www.food.gov.uk/safety-hygiene/irradiated-food
spath meant eradicate
Who would actually want to eat irradiated food? Imagine what that could do to and unborn child.
Ummm, Not everyone has the means to always cook at home and if they manage to, it may be a ready meal which is also usually over processed
If you can cook a ready meal in the oven or microwave you have the facility to make porridge, jacket potatoes,...
Someone in the medical profession and unrelated to taxation pushing to tax us more. Folk will still eat what they want, but levels of poverty will increase with the higher tax bill. Just another attempt at more insane extraction of cash from the citizens. People demanding tax increases should keep their daft ideas to themselves, or limit it to sharing them with their mates at the wine bar.
