My hand is getting tired using a knife to slice carrots into nice round coin shapes. Is there any make of electric/manual kitchen utensil that can help me slice my carrotts as good as using a knife?

not without a similar action to a knife or grater.
Any food processor with a slicing disc with slice carrots but then you've got the faff of washing the bowl and disc.
Have you thought about buying frozen carrots? They are just as nutritious as fresh and need not be any more expensive as there is absolutely no waste.
not tried it but could you par boil them whole and then slice them when they are softer ?
Tony - we had one of those until I came to use it and took a large lump out of my hand. It has now been hidden at the back of a cupboard somewhere - my wife won't even send it to a charity shop as she says she'll feel guilty if someone else slices themselves as I did.
Bhg you are meant to use the hand guard, but can take-top of finger of very easily.
Not a finger-end, Tony, the base of my hand. I was using the pusher-thing, holding it with my fingers, and allowed my hand to catch the cutter; they are VERY sharp.
Aww bhg hope your hand is mended now, but I find mandolin brilliant for preparing stir fry veg. Not caught myself on it yet, but as you say very sharp.

I think i will stay with the knife, blood and carrots don't mix!
Ok Porkchop whatever you feel most comfortable with, but remember much easier to cut yourself with a blunt blade rather than a sharp one.
Buy baby Chantenay carrots and leave them whole. That's what I do now.
