Boy Can Peas Roll!

Part of dinner tonight was a dish of mixed green veg, peas, leeks and green beans. I had put the dish in the oven to keep warm. When everything was ready I went to lift the dish along with another one from the oven. The dish was hot and burnt my hand through the towel I was using. I dropped it, some of the contents fell on oven bottom, the rest all over the kitchen floor some peas even making it into the next room.
I was not a happy bunny,

my mother once told me that to check the sex of a small item shake it and see.
If it rattles it's a boy.

Fast forward to me in Biology Class, teacher asked how do we tell the sex of a fruit fly.
