I always thought it was because you could pull it off the bone.

Might be wrong though.
So called because after it is cooked it is pulled to shreds by hand.In America it is used a lot in sandwiches.
Because once it is cooked you pull it apart and mix with the cooking juices.
had some last year in usa very tasty
Or just call it overcooked
A pointless fashion thing.
Not sure how old the term is but is not at all a new fad or fashion, widely used across the USA.

It may be new(ish) in the UK but pulled pork has a long standing in the US.
I prefer my pork in slices, not shredded. I suppose it's ok if you have trouble chewing things.
I do a pulled chicken thing - the kids love it. Pulled pork is hardly a fashion, it's just another way to cook pork. Each to his own.
Conne is right though - it's only well-cooked pork that you just shred before you eat it.
I can see a shoulder of pork being on my shopping list at the butcher tomorrow! Cooked all day at a very low heat with lots of lovely spices and served with a jalapeño slaw........OH YES!!!!
eccles, will you be pulling your pork ?
I do hope you are not being smutty AA!
I thought she was :-)
Hey oop - Food porn?
me? oh please !
I need to get through tonights fairly dull fish curry before I can rejoice in the joys of a slow cooked, warmly spiced, moist, delicious pulled pork shoulder tomorrow with a multitude of side dishes.

I love it when someone else suggests what to cook, I love cooking but family supper planning can be so tedious.

I just need to decide on the Sunday roast and I'll be a happy bunny :-)
Well, having had a tooth extracted this morning I am struggling to decide what to have at all, tummy wants food - mouth says no.
