A butcher in Suffolk has stopped hanging his wares in the window as there have been letters of complaint sent to the local paper and he has received anonymous letters.

To my mind if you're going to eat meat you have to accept it comes from dead animals, not plastic wrapped boxes from the supermarket.

What are your thoughts?

Seen this on the news this morning. What a bunch of idiots!!

Ridiculous, eating meat/butchers shops are a fact of life, where do these idiots think meat comes from?
If it offends the precious kiddies, then there is something lacking in their education!
Jesus Wept

I could go into full-on rant mode about the lunacy of this - but (possibly fortunately) I'm in a bit of a rush to go out now.

Every single one of the complainants should be asked if they eat meat - if so they are utter hypocrites, prepared to eat the stuff but unwilling to accept that it involves dead animals.
Who remembers the days that butchers had saw dust?

Mine still does Ummmm!

And when he has any game hanging in the window he takes time to explain to the kids (and the parents) what he has hanging up.

Similarly when he is cutting up a carcass he talks people through the joints.

As a good butcher should.

Pathetic as to the letters - sounds like a coordinated campaign by a few (vegans?).
I`m not sure it`s necessary to hang the whole, unplucked bird/rabbit etc in the window. The skinned/plucked/prepared version would be quite acceptable but seeing the whole, dead animals hanging up is enough to turn some people veggie.
What next ---------ban them from the fields as well
Jeez, some people are losing their grip on reality. I wonder if it was any of his customers that complained.

Next it'll be the fish monger daring to put a mackeral in the window.
Fowl !!
Faceless people trying to ruin a good business
I think it`s the goose and the pigs heads looking straight at me that I don`t like

Sorry, thought that link was going to take me to just the picture
It's like the idiots who move to a country village and then complain because the church bells ring on Sundays and the farm down the road smells of manure.
Utter rubbish, you eat it, you deal with the nasties.

I would love to have a butcher like this near me... I still can't find a decent place that sells the meat I need for my pasties :-/

Is it the queens Butcher, looks like a Swan in the window?
i don't like seeing the dead animals but i think its important to know where meat comes from and appreciate it. Despite my squeamishness i would rather buy from there than a supermarket

scarily there are people who don't know what the pink stuff in a tray in the supermarket started out life as...
They'll be having him skulking down a back alley like drug dealer next.
"Psst. Wanna score a brace of pheasant, squire? Hows about a couple of ounces of scratchin's for the weekend? Know what I mean? Say no more!"
Here's some we killed earlier

We all know where our meat comes from but who wants to see animals heads/birds/rabbits etc hanging in their butchers window?

People go to their butchers to buy meat, not to see bird/animal corpses on display.

I agree with some of the comments which say that children could especially be upset by seeing the display

Also wouldn't it be a health and hygiene risk hanging the display above cuts of meats? Who knows what could be in the fur and feathers?

I'm much more confident buying meat from a butcher that does have carcasses hanging. It means that he is a butcher and not just a meat retailer.
What a bunch of idiots to complain, where do they think their meat comes from.
