I am going to a Thai restaurant next month - it'll be a first for me, as I've never tried Thai before despite how delicious it looks. I was thinking of making a Thai meal, I fancy making something with prawns however, it must not be over spicy, just something mildly spiced. Can anyone suggest something?

You could make a Thai yellow curry. It`s milder than the red or green curries and contains potato. I have always had it with chicken but you could do it with prawn. You can have it with jasmine rice and in Thailand, they do a simple side dish of veg which is stir fried with garlic and oyster sauce (they water that down a bit as it`s gloopy to cook with)
I would go for a green curry...milder than red. I can't recommend any store bought curry pastes,as I always used to make my own...that way you can control the heat.

Here is a recipe for both paste and curry. It looks like it would be good. If I had some lime leaves,I make it myself. :-)
I would suggest you try something like this, where you can get the fresh vibrant flavours coming through and you can easily adjust the amount of chilli you add. http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1286/fragrant-thai-prawns

I'll have a look for some more recipes for you.
Pad thai is a classic and don't be scared of tinkering with the veggies in it. http://www.deliciousmagazine.co.uk/recipes/classic-prawn-pad-thai
And here is another for a grilled prawn http://www.taste.com.au/recipes/2334/asian+style+grilled+prawns

All three of the websites I have linked to have good recipes, I suggest you have a trawl through them and see what takes your fancy!

Wow thanks, they all sound delish, don't know where to start first. May try all over couple of weeks! I have to say, on seeing the Thai curries, I've never thought they look very appetising, that's probably what has deterred me from trying them so long!
