When we were little kids, Mum used to get us a pomegranate now and then.
Then she told us we had to eat it one seed at a time, with a pin.
It used to take us ages.
Did your Mum tell you such porkies?

why should it be porkies? We used to eat them one at a time too (but not with a pin) - they were rare and expensive when I was a child.
Love pomegranates but they are so expensive here. When I worked in Albania you could pick them off the trees for free. Late September was the best time for them. My mum told us to use a pin too lol.

She did it to keep us occupied and quiet for a spell.
Ha so that's why the parents made us do it too . They can be expensive now , we buy them when they come on special offer/ reduced. Lovely !
Yep - with a pin ..... make them last .... bl**dy expensive!!
Same here, always given a pin to eat them..If I remember correctly we always had them around the time of "The Goose Fair"
no, you peel it apart and dissect it like a brain
We used to eat them with a pin too. Lovely!
We were posh...we used a cocktail stick ! Lol
yes, I used to eat Pomegranates with a pin as a child and I think I still would as an even bigger kid now if I had one to eat.
Yes, same here too, mum always cut them in half and gave us a pin to eat them with, happy days.
humph, I had a deprived childhood then, mum gave me an egg spoon after she'd cut it in half. Trying get just the seeds without any of that bitter tasting stuff was a challenge.
Bugger. Want to go and buy some now!:-)
Albs...how did sprog do at interview ? Excuse aside ferlew x
We had one seed between 6 of us.:-(
excuse me Ferlew, sprog did well, was one of 5 and should hear in the next day or so.
Was about 10 years ago before I found out that you could tap the seeds out and add them to couscous.
Delicious.

Oh yes Mazie, Nottm Goose Fair, was a time I lived on Mapperley Park.
Wall of death riders intrigued me.

Oh, and whilst we are on the subject, when did they stop doing candy floss on a stick? Not the same in a plastic bag at all.
Question Author
Think I found out about that Alba watching Jamie Oliver whacking the daylights out of em with a spoon.
