What did you serve in the end? Or what didn't you serve?
Lol oops! Glad it went well xx
Question Author
lol I forgot to cook the cauli and the spinach.

The menu was:-

Consomme

Scallops in bloody mary sauce
Bassa on potato cake
Whitebait

Duck with apple sauce
Fillet steak
Veal and Gammon with orange sauce
Chicken ala stanley
mutton with pea puree

Pigeon on crouton with redcurrent sauce

Vanilla icecream
Charlotte Coleville
Boozy jelly with peaches

Cheese and biscuits with port
I take it these are tiny portions? Like a taster menu...
Sounds gorgeous, but jeez, that's a LOT of food. And a heck of a lot of washing up.

(Titanic was a great idea, the bloody thing sank before anyone had to do anything about the washing up).
Question Author
yes the meat courses are a couple of slices each
If these people were actually on the Titanic (or a ship) after eating all this amount of food they would sink the ship. :)

Did you do all the cooking by yourself?
That's a hell lot of work. Your poor aching feet.
Question Author
yup all by myself
You're mad.

It does sound gorgeous, but I'd never be able to keep it all hot. Plus if I was serving on Saturday I'd have to start the previous Saturday!!!!
Yeah, how do you keep it hot?
Question Author
I move fast and keep the plates hot and serve a couple at a time
Well done, it sounds amazing.
lol i wouldn't have enough cutlery, crockery or pans
Question Author
Bednobs, I am a bugger for plates and cutlery as I have a large dining table (seats 10) I had to make sure that my dinner service was ample so I bought extra in everthing, and my poor hubby despairs when we go shopping as I have a habit of picking up sets of cutlery!

Thank you marval
I'd have thought Ummmm would have said //that's shocking amount of food!//
Anyway, what I wondered was, did you do it for charity - a bet - what?
Why would I say that? This is a once a year thing, not Sunday dinner!
Wow, FG. That sounds blimmin lovely :-)

I definitely wouldn't be able to cope with cooking all that, though I'd rather enjoy tucking into it!
mine was an evening mixed grill, where the diner ended up having one or two meat things each. Just wondered why you'd say it about my food that's all, and not comment on a 14 course meal - no crime committed, like I said, just wondered
My comment would be a very large "Burp."

Prefer my cheese before the dessert - soaks up the red wine

I've done 8 courses for 12 people (with minimal help)...but never this magnitude
