Too Much Tea

My boss is convinced that I'm making myself ill by drinking too much tea.

I drink 10-15 cups a day, normally with two sweeteners - splenda normally. (I know there are claimed health problems from sweeteners but it's either that or sugar and I prefer the taste of that).

Aside from tea all I ever drink is water. Hardly ever any fizzy drinks or alcohol. The occasional fruit juice.

So, is it really going to cause me any problems? Other people drink that much, plus.

I have that easy...
your boss is probably more concerned about the amount of tea breaks you have
I doubt it. The tannin might stain your teeth and the caffeine might make you hyper but I wouldn`t worry about the sweetener. Splenda is make from sucralose (a sugar derivative) and not aspartame.

Tea is just lovely, isn't it Murray!

Lol, it's not like I take time out every time I stick the kettle on.
Question Author
I've read things about Splenda that should make it illegal. Whether I choose to believe those things or not is a different thing.

I've obviously not drinking enough because I'm never hyper.
One of the factors is how strong you like it. Tea contains antioxidants. Brew it for two minutes and its very good for you.....I would be going easy on the splenda though. Have you tried stevia?
I have been laughed at when out for a meal have asked for Tea not wine !!!
Question Author
I do like it strong, leave it to brew for a couple of minutes and a teeny drop of milk. Not tried Stevia, might do next time I need to stock up.

Lol Murray, I'm not that bad ;) Although when I go round to peoples houses they first thing I hear is along the lines of 'stick the kettle on, Kate's here'.
there is no such thing as "Too much tea" in our office :-)
I drink 15-20 cups a day too Evian, but just with milk in it and I seem ok and my teeth are still sparkling white! lol
Question Author
Well, it seems like I'm not drinking enough going by other peoples standards :)
I suspect you bodss is talking out of his.... back of his neck. But compromise. Say if he thinks gin would be healthier you're prepared to swap.

Lol, might try that OG. Maybe he's just worried about the bill for all the tea bags.

Just a quickie as I'm at work... Sucralose is a synthetic chemical. Switch to Truvia. It's made from Stevia, which is a natural leaf

:-)

My Mum (in her 80's) drinks GALLONS of the stuff, always has done and is remarkable for her age - hasn't done her any harm whatsoever !
Too much caffeine isnt good for you. It can give you withdrawal symptoms. Swith to decaffeinated tea bags instead. Youll feel so much better for it, i promise
I don't think so, I actually think it's quite good for you.
There are loads of chemicals used in the decaffeination process. I tried switching once, they made me feel quite ill!
I'd drink more with skimmed milk and no sweeteners.
Ah I wouldn't worry, we drink a lot of strong tea. Love, love, love the stuff. I don't have any sugar though. I rarely drink anything else and I'm pretty healthy *touches wood*.
