My 12 year old granddaughter started secondary school last summer and seems to be doing well, good marks in her tests etc. But at least one school day (never weekends) per week, she comes home headachy and often sick. We think she is going far too long without food or drink. She is very fussy about what she eats, disliking most of the things her younger sister eats. Its a long day, from 6.30 in the morning. How can we stop her turning anorexic? Any good books out there?

/How can we stop her turning anorexic?/

Anorexia is a psychological condition.

Send her with a packed lunch with things she 'will' eat.
Can she make up her own lunch box then she might just eat it if she considers the contents ok..
I agree with the other posters, send her to school with things she will eat. There's no point in giving her food she won't eat, it'll just go in the bin, secondary schools are not bothered about checking lunch boxes for healthy foods, the kids just get on and eat. If she's on school dinners then the queue's might be so long that she's not got enough time to eat, at the school my kids go to, lunch time is like a zoo in the cafeteria.

Have you spoken to her about what she's eating and drinking during the day? does PE fall n these off days? she may need extra calories, a banana can sort that out.
Why doesn't she eat or drink all day?
God, just read my post back to myself, talk about rambling.

does she get enough water? have you asked her what she eats/drinks?
