Who do wine buffs/wine drinkers think they are?

I cannot drink wine or champagne because it makes me really gassy and gives me the worst hangovers and heartburn so i choose to drink beer.
My friends drink at some top classed establishment and i'm sick to the back teeth of wine drinkers looking over at me drinking a beer and scoffing haughtily down their noses at me, shouldn't they come down off their holier than thou highhorses and remember that their drink of choice is not as much as it's cracked up to be? "Oh we have floral notes with a hint of basil" "Oh we have to drink this wine with that meal to make it complete" What a load of tosh, since when did we HAVE to drink rancid grapes to complete a meal, the meal should be enough without having a poncey wine with "upthereselves" so called wine buffs, Ha, that makes me laugh whenever these so called wine buffs are given a blind test and 98% of time get it wrong and pick the cheapest wine as the best tasting or best quaility.
Am i the only one that feels constantly bullied, shunned and to be made to feel inferior by this snobby species?

So you've never met a real ale camra beer snob then?

Does a well cooked meal taste any different because wine is involved? Wouldn't that same meal taste better with a so called palate cleanser instead?
lol... something else i just remembered.... he used to ask me to smell or taste it.... when i said it smelled of wine and tasted (more often than not) like bleuuurgghhh he used to get pretty annoyed as though he'd bloody bought the seed, planted the grapes and been there every step of the way.....
I really think you are generalising about wine drinkers, and how can you even tell they are reacting to you having a beer.
Unless you are one of those women who drinks from pint glasses... ;-0
This thread was probably sparked by a comment by someone in the 'Drinking at Jubilee Celebration' thread, when they asked Why do wine drinkers think they're better than anyone else? the style seems very familiar and a typical new member question of late.
Welcome to AB Meenah.
and many of us wine drinkers do enjoy a beer or cider.
I thought that too, Baldric.......

Pdust, i think a lot of myths, snobbery and misconceptions have been purposefully sent down the grapevine (pardon the pun) from the owners of this hundreds of billion pounds a year industry to seep into all aspects of the wine industry and sell more units.
No pastafreak i drink my beer from a wine glass (I know, but i like the way the glasses are ergonomically correct) or bottle.
Thanks to all those that welcomed me too :)

No it was sparked by my own experiences which were remembered whilst watching Come Dine with Me

Well but you cannot equate CDWM with real life.

Wolfgang but is it real life unless you know something we don't? So inside info maybe? Care to divulge with us not in or without links in the media?
pdust, yep, first page of your thread.
CDWM is an orchestrated filmed event, not real life in any sense of the word. I drink and like wines and ports, I also drink beer and Fanta. Some meals are enhanced by a nice wine, it's a fact of life. I don't care what you or anyone else drinks and I don't know any wine drinkers who do. Just disregard such rudeness and enjoy your beer.
thanks baldric i even looked twice and couldnt see the comment.... maybe cos it was just the one line i probably took no notice of it....
meat and potato pie is truly enhanced by a glass of dandelion and burdock pop :)
Blue Nun is my favourite wine and I don't care what the wine snobs think (lol).
