Light rye bread, spread with mayo on one slice and mild mustard on the other. Thin slices of smoked german ham, mild blue cheese, sliced gherkins, sliced red pepper and leaves of crisp little gem. Sandwich together and eat.
^^v.nice!!
Toasted. White bread, mustard mixed with butter, chopped onion between ham (bottom layer) and cheese.
EcclesCake, that's a meal but sounds yummy.
Chuck away the cheese- put ham, salami and a good dollop of cool ranch sauce with crap loads of black pepper in a crusty baguette.
A sandwich for lunch? That can't be healthy. Whats the reason that a sndwic will be your lunch instead of having something more healthy and nourishing? If you have to brown bread bun, plenty salad, mustard on one slice and mayo and brown sauce on the other and replace the ham with tuna, sardines or chick/turkey/beef.
Jonno - Since when has a sandwich been unhealthy and not nourishing?
It's winter, you need proper food tokeep he body warm, energized and healthy, also do you think a sandwich is a good source of efa's or a ham sandwich a good source of protein? Clearly it's not.
Once or twice a week..not fancying cooking..Sandwiches and Tea..sometimes with Soup..is very nice..
As part of a balanced diet there is nothing wrong with having a sandwich for lunch, or dinner.
Hate ham, loathe cheese, can live without sandwiches.......but I do enjoy a proper Croque Monsieur!
jonno: so, if ham (and cheese) aren't protein, what are they?
Mmmm, eggy bread
Right, if you're getting your macros at other meals then why not however like i said it's winter so i would advise a well balnced hearty meal.
I you had twins and both were woking in the cold, one ate a sandwich and the other ate a hot balanced "meat potatoes and veg"typed meal, whci one would feel more energised and satisfied and if you asked them who felt warmer and took their core temperature guess which one would be warmer
Gingebee, go back and read my post i didn't mention cheese i said a ham sandwich isn't a good source of protein and i stand by that, even cheese isn't a good source of protein, yes they are protein but not the best source, please don't let me have to bore you with amino acid profiles, lol.
That^ was a reply to EcclesCake

"As part of a balanced diet there is nothing wrong with having a sandwich for lunch, or dinner. "
Jonno: bore me all you like - I have a Degree in Molecular Sciences. And the OP DID ask about ham AND cheese.
On reflection I suspect aliens steal protein from ham and cheese sandwiches to deny the earthlings the strength they need to fight alien invaders.
Have never eaten a cooked meal at lunch time since being forced to at school.

Jonno- you're assuming lilac fairy here is going ploughing the fields or building a dry stone wall tomorrow after her butty then???
Gingebee you said "jonno: so, if ham (and cheese) aren't protein, what are they?
When i didn't at no point say cheese and ham aren't protein which means you made it to start an argument?
You have a Degree in Molecular Sciences yet you want to argue with me over cheese and ham neither of which are a good source and neither of which are a complete protein, lol.
Ecclescake can we go at least one day without blaming those poor little aliens?
