Faggots.....oooooh naughty! Oh you mean the ones you can cook I haven't had any for ages, they are a Lancashire delicacy. The ones I had were nice though, aren't they a bit like haggis?
Oooh, the cheek of it! Faggots are a Black Country delicacy.

Our butcher calls faggots 'savoury ducks' to avoid offending anyone (i think)
They are called savoury ducks here in the NE too, but you very rarely see them these days.
Snap janzman we also had Mr Brains faggots tonight along with mashed potatoes, carrots and green beans from a friends allotment - lovely!!
Brilliant piece about faggots in this stand-up clip:

My Nan used to make us eat Brains Faggots when we were little, nearly made us sick. I wonder if I'd like them now I'm all grow'd up.
my gran used to make faggots, seved with mash and mushy peas and onion gravy. I last had them 40 years ago. then for sweet there was either a jam roly poly, a big rice pudding, or an egg custard that used to go black with all the nutmeg on top. Happy times.
oooh thats nice...
Just watched that clip Philtaz, how funny was that. I have to look this man up now.
Just read up on what they were cause I'd never heard of them before. Wow, and you think we Scots are strange with our haggis!!!
I love faggots, have them with mashed swede and peas, and mashed potato and of course lashings of gravy. A real tasty dinner.
Faggots ?

There is no such thing.
Faggots with mint sauce, de-lish!
Homemade ones are the best, but you don't seem to be able to get the right ingredients now. There are no 'keckers' hung up in the butcher's shop for him to slice off pieces of liver, kidney, heart and above all, lights, with some of that stuff to wrap them in. Oh well, all gone now.
Oooh, you've reminded me I think I have some in my freezer. Will have to get them out for tomorrow's dinner. Love them.
Used to be abl to buy a pack of two Brains faggots. Not seen them for ages.
Either I have to hack away with a freezer knife to separate into two meals or cook four and throw two away which makes me feel guilty. Other option, go without and feel hungry for them.
I'm SO going to gag !

I've Googled faggots. They are basically a "joke" food ... yes?

They are sheeps' ring pieces, squashed into balls, and fried ...

... and people PAY to eat them !!

Come on, guys !
Obviously the southern palate is far too delicate for the tastes of old England.
Faggots, Saveloy and pease pudding ;)
