slight argument at work, do you have to have potatoes with your meal to make it complete

for example (although i now want chicken tikka) i have chicken pie for dinner and will have that with carrots, broc, peas. I am being told that i have to have some form of potato with it or its not a meal. to me the pastry acts as my carbs and i don;t need anything else

whale will bring home chick curry and rice and chips - i don't get this???

A small amount mccfluff, I suppose I wouldn't feel it was whole without.
I'm the same as you Fluffy. I either have potato, bread, pasta or rice. Just one type of carb per meal.
Not in my opinion you don't! By that measure anything Indian, Chinese or Italian wouldn't be a proper meal, rubbish.
Well, it's a known thing in the tourist areas of France; when you see a family tucking into pizza and chips you know they're Brits!!

lol had pizza last night, whale phoned to see if i wanted him to stop and get chips!

but a roast dinner would not be a roast dinner without roasties
No same as you only one carb, my OH drives me mad with this as well
If you're having pie you shouldn't have potato..........
Let's face it, fluff...........with your hips, you shouldn't even have pie!! :op
Question Author
what about potato pie, does that have pastry i've never had it

is this a british thing?
Question Author
but i can balance pie on my hips (and support a wine glass stem between my cleavage but thats another story)
Agree- never have potatoes with any sort of pie etc.
McFluff....get SPUDS....you CANNOT call that a dinner without SPUDS.

I am going to phone you in a bit and tell you that ginger people are evil and dinners are not complete without SPUDS.....geddit???!!!!

Phew!! feel a bit better now..
We often have mashed swede instead of potato, especially with chops and pies.
^Not that you're in the least bit biased, eh, spuddy o'murphy.....? :o)
Question Author
ginger people are not evil, ginger pubes are evil and i'm not having frigging spuds with pie
^ what she said...............
Question Author
isn't mashed swede the same sort of thing tho, carbs and carbs or is swede not as carby as potato? (if that makes any sense)
We don't have potatoes a lot Fluffy. Like you, one lot of carbs per meal is fine.
Swede is a root veg full of fibre.
Potato is strictly not a vegetable, it is a tuber and is a carb. Potatoes don't count in your 5 a day, swede does.
