when its on automatic it just cooks at the same temperature. on mine its either low or high. i always leave mine on low and go out for the day and its totally fine. wouldnt leave it on high cos you never know what might happen!

cant complain with mine it has always worked perfectly and its really old too. think it just heats up to a certain temperature and retains that temperature.

all in all i give them a thumbs up. x

thanks elleroo, as you say its probably set at a medium temp then switches on and off throughout the day. Its the first time I've had one and the meat just falls off the bone...beautiful!!
On 'automatic', it starts off on 'high', then switches to 'low' for the remainder of the cooking period. Annette Yates' Tower Slo-Cook Book is a good one, if still in print, but there must be many similar. All of the appliances are pretty much the same, power-wise, I believe.
