Yes, it struck me as a bit hypocritical and  insensitive for him to make a song and dance about his fasting.

Then why do we have so many obese people?

They're fatsing, andres.

They have a bad case of fridge feet.

No Delhi belly for Sunak then.

I wished Sunak would fasten his cob up, tuck his trousers in his socks jump on a bike and peddle off into the sunny up lands. :0))))

Has he got a short-legged stocky horse or male swan then?

Sunak also advises to speak to  doctor first. if you want to fast Best you book an appointment now whilst The Tories are in charge of the NHS..Then you will get an answer when Labour come into power next year.

So as long as we have a lot of obese people, it's OK for others to starve - what a wonderful philosophy.

I presume when Rishi Sunak loses weight he becomes Rishi Sunk

[I'll see myself out]

Lots of people fast for religious reasons. Rishi Sunak will be one .

19.21 why do we have many obese? Because they are eating all this cheap crap that supermarkets call "value". Sunak no doubt get the best of the best.

Yes like carrots, bananas, cabbage, oats. Why make excuses for people who ignore all the advice and buy far too much pizzas, biscuits, cola and takeaways?

//Half the working class in the UK have been fasting for the last Fourteen years under the Cons without even trying.//

Well their waistlines certainly aren't decreasing - must be getting the bloating associated with starvation!

Very few people are starving, all the pubs near me were sold out of NYE tickets (I live in a deprived area, apparently), the airports are busy with British holidaymakers jetting off to Benidorm and the like, the fast fashion companies are thriving and people still queue to get their hands on the latest Apple product.

People choose what they put in their mouths.  My breakfast every day is porridge made with water and a piece of fruit a couple of hours later.  The only cheaper breakfast is no breakfast.  I could buy three fresh chickens for a tenner from the supermarkets.  I stocked up with the very cheap root veg and sprouts at Christmas.   It is possible to eat very healthily on a tight budget - but some people seem to prefer fast food and takeaways.

Banging on about obesity doesn't invalidate poverty evidence.

"Chalk and Cheese" springs to mind.

No - but it does give the lie to claims that poor people are starving!

8.31, I doubt very much anyone is staving. There's a big difference between staving and being hungry. There is still affordable food to buy, ( value food) but the latter has no value to your health, only your pocket. Most supermarkets provide a cheap loaf of bread around 45p/ 75p but take a look at the list of ingredients, its mind blowing, all very bad for anyones health, not to mention the vast amount of sugar and salt in other foods. Like I said value foods are killing people before their time. Government response is yet again a joke. Time and time again they've refused to do anything about the contents of food especially salt and sugar. They could, very much like they have acted on vape products.

Junk food isn't 'value' food.  It's expensive.  Unfortunately there are a lot of people who live on it though - that's why obesity is now one of the biggest health risks.  Another nonsense post from gulliver.

Orwell (Road to Wigan Pier)

"The ordinary human being would sooner starve than live on brown bread and raw carrots. And the peculiar evil is this, that the less money you have, the less inclined you feel to spend it on wholesome food. A millionaire may enjoy breakfasting off orange juice and Ryvita biscuits; an unemployed man doesn't."
