my grandfather once hooked a high-speed motorboat in St Ives Bay, fishing off Smeaton's Pier. Lucky for him DT, one time in Whitbey the tide was coming in and I saw a lad (about 8-10) fishing on a base of a pier (bay) when I looked around a second time he was gone within seconds! my was heart well stopped and luckily he appeared from behind a pillar fishing rod in hand and complained that it was a fast tide.
