Do you live alone? If you do, do you hate it or do you enjoy your own company?

I just hate cleaning up after people. After Mr Tiggs leaves I always find a dirty plate or a mug somewhere where it shouldn't be. And don't get me started on the snoring and the sleep disruption!!! Arrgghhh
Could not agree more, I LOVE having the bed to myself !
To bring things down to a more sombre note, today is the 27th anniversary of my husbands death and I have lived alone since then.
Over the first years I did'nt mind being on my own, I had two grandchildren and looked after them while my daughters worked.
I was able to do voluntary work both here and abroad.
It is only now in my late 70's that I feel really alone, grandchildren grown up and moved away, one of them to Sweden. There is no joy in cooking a meal then sitting down to eat it on your own.
On a brighter note I will become a great grandmother in December and we are all very excited about that, the only thing is that she will be born in Sweden.
The worst thing about being alone and getting older is the worry that something will happen and there is nobody there to help you.

Sorry ' it,s the 29th anniversary nor 27th.

Surely a candidate for the BEST ANSWER.

Very, very few people would choose to enter their retirement alone.
I understand that leahbee, it's not ideal for everyone, particularly as we age. You do have family though and I'm sure they'd be there for you when you need them xx
////There is no joy in cooking a meal then sitting down to eat it on your own. ////

I beg to differ. I thoroughly enjoy cooking up a meal. Furthermore, being able to eat it concentrating on the taste/texture experience without outside interruption is not only pleasant, but good for the digestion too.
Well you're a bundle of fun, Canary and candidate for most insensitive answer.
Well bully for you canary 24!
Or 42 even.
I love you too gness :-)
Hate it, hate it, hate it!
Can't get used to the silence - can't stand the radio all the time.
Go bowling on Wednesday, play crib on Friday, best pal takes me for a pint Saturday,- great but only a few hours out of a week.
Thank goodness for my daughter who takes me to her house on Thursday and Sunday for dinner and then a chance to wallow in the Bath!
Am sure I am more fortunate than many but it isn't fun
Regards to all ABs
I love my own company - when OH is away, I am never short of things to occupy me. I lived on my own for 12 years before I met him, not a problem. I can do what I like, when I like.
A recent if slightly differently worded question had some interesting replies. I answered there.

jacklee, it is not easy at all and very early days for you, sending love. ♥
Lynne, I've just read your post and I am so pleased for you, love and best wishes xx
Sorting chicken coop & nosey rambler pops his head over fence with "are you growing weed"? cough, splutter...will sett the dogs on him!

Youre never alone ;(
I suppose the difference is choice. Although i say i enjoy my time to myself when OH away, i know he's coming back. Would feel very different if he wasn't, i know. Lots of love to Leah and Jack xx
Psybbo, thank you. ♥
I live alone and wouldn't have it any other way.

I like social contact (even at the most basic level) to be strictly on my own terms. So, for example, I'd much rather queue for 10 minutes in a supermarket to use the self-service checkouts than go straight to a vacant staffed checkout.
