How can I find out more about a solicitor in the UK, using the internet? I am interested to know his training, age etc. Also, what criteria is used to turn a solicitor into a partner?

Have done that already, thank you, but it was a good idea.
Contact the Law Society - they will help you.

I wanted to be a bit subtle about finding out information, so I might give the Law Society a miss, but thank you for your input.
With regard to age, I often associate that with experience and wisdom although I know that this isn't always true.
It is certainly not true as far as the idiot who dealt with my mother's will is concerned.

I had an incompetent firm dealing with a relative's estate too - lost all the documents. I try to find out as much as I can about the firm first now.
