An ex partner of mine is saying that I have forged his signature on a legal document (house sale) and his solicitor is saying that he will get a hand writing expert to check its authenticity. Thats fine by me as he definatley signed it, so bring on the hand writing expert. a) does anyone know how much these experts cost and b) if he swears on oath that he did not sign the document and then when it proves he did, will he be committing perjury.

Can't answer your question but (and maybe this is why you want to know the cost) I would suggest having your own expert check it over too.

Thnks Post dog I intend to. I just cant understand the logic in somebody lying in a court of law knowing they could and will be found out. It is 100% signed by him.

When my ex and I signed to sell our house we had it witnessed by a solicitor. Where did the signing take place?

Sorry its not the transfer he,s denying signing. he gave me a letter (for my building society) saying he was selling it me for a certain price. Now over 12 months later he has decided that he wants the house back and is saying i have committed fraud with this letter. But he definatley, definatley signed it. Its just sour grapes cos ive met someone else and he aint!!

If he signed it then he doesn't stand a chance. His solicitor is probably running up costs for his client, hand writing experts are rarely used in civil matters. No he would not be committing perjury.

as he is saying he did not sign it then it needs to be verified, so would a handwriting expert do this with it being a civil matter, if not, how else can it be proved?
