We should have learned by now that buying votes from council house owners (Thatcher) and immigrants (Blair) and children (Starmer wishes, God forbid ...) always ends in tears

buying votes from council house tenants ends in tears? Don't be silly, it was pure socialism in action: buy votes by giving away other people's property. Steal from the council, give to the Tory voter ... like Robin Hood almost.

If the Yanks want to punish Biden for 8% inflation they can count themselves lucky they're not in Britain, where it's higher. But ... which part of tax and spend does the current government not do?
