I'm not skint but if I was I'd rather cancel Sky TV et al than broadband. Broadband to me has become a vital utility.

My wife?
Unfortunately (in a large part due to more than a decade of Tory government incompetence and corruption) many people are having to resort to the use of food banks to get by, now many cannot even afford a home internet connection – to children living in such a home, their education will inevitably suffer without access to such a resource.

No doubt to a Tory supporter, it is all the fault of poor people.
Perhaps these poor people who cannot afford an internet connection should take TTT’s advice, cancel their Sky subscription and have Fortnum & Mason cut back on their weekly caviar deliveries.
Broadband is very cheap these days especially the perfectly good social tariffs. I pay less for the Internet now than I did 20 years ago and get 200MBps. I could have a cheaper service if I wanted it.
Those that get a good 4G or 5G signal can tether devices to a cheap PAYG SIM card, there are some really good deals for unlimited data.
I would not consider having no Internet, it saves me more than it costs
norty lozza
it is a serous question posed so I can understand it

the people making these silly silly decisions cant budget
and this is another of them ( bad budget decision)
I pay less for the Internet now than I did 20 years ago.

well the cambridge ring ( wing ding) 1970s sort of didnt grow because the idea was too leave your computer on ALL the timme and the telephone companies all said - yes please, look at our fees!

then we had the age of the dong-ie dong-ie machines boing boing
( that is me imitating a phone link)
Do they still do narrow band ?

I think I'd cancel the call girls; it's not as if I can recall what I'm supposed to do with them these days. Memory like a sieve.

I've just had City Fibre installed, 500mb! and that's not the fastest!
Cancel the Sky or Netflix subscriptions, not that I have them to cancel, no takeaways or meal deliveries, and live on vegetables from a market with a few tinned pulses or beans to give nourishment to stews and sauces over pasta.
Living in the countryside I would keep the broadband and some money for petrol.
I wonder how many homes have really cancelled the internet?
How many have switched from home broadband to mobile data?
Most likely the case Barry. And get the teenagers to pay for their own data packages!
If I didn't want Virgin TV I'd go for mobile data. My friends live on a narrowboat and have got a fantastic mifi service
i would start off by cancelling after school activities for my daughter (most reluctantly of course).
She does choir, band jam, maths tutoring.
it flipping adds up!
Certainly does Bednobs, but then I always excepted that was the going with private education. The Ski trips etc are even more of a nightmare!

Yes TTT, Sky, Amazon, Netflix all go prior to broadband. After all if you have an internet connections there are many ways of getting entertainment.

For me Internet is a must as I work from home. Indeed my Synology router is connected to a permanent fibre connection and a 5g for back up.
That should have been accepted of course.
What you can cancel is dependant on if you are in contract or not.

For example you cannot just cancel sky if you are in contract - I worked out that their fine is only £30 cheaper than paying the rest of the contract!
Mobile phones too if you are in contract you have to pay heavily to end them early.
TV Licence. Hardly watch it these days and use catch up to watch Emmerdale on the computer.
yes ymb, the choir are doing 2 international trips next year - they sounded like a great idea (before we got the payment schedules through!)
