Boris, ( quote) go on a staycation, Matt Hancock, we will close the beaches. Well that's simple enough to understand. :0)

TC,the two statements refer to different things.Go on a staycation but ,if you do not observe social distancing, we will close the beaches.

So who's going to book a staycation for a week not knowing if suddenly they decide to close the beach, because there's an influx of day trippers were you've booked your week away??
If you're that concerned, don't book. Your decision.
//So who's going to book a staycation for a week not knowing if suddenly they decide to close the beach//

Me, because beaches have no interest for me as there are lots of more interesting places to visit.
Question Author
10.02 naiom, who said I was booking? bhg neither do I have any interest in beaches, but many do especially with young kids. So my question remains the same.
TC, and the answers remain the same.
teacake, people make their own choices. A question for you. Do you ever stop complaining?
//So my question remains the same. //

So does my answer; ME.
You've misunderstood Teacake. Boris was talking about after 4th July when staycations will be possible. The beaches will not be so crowded when they are not the only place to be at the resort- at different times people will be in cafes and bars, at hotels by the pool or in gift shops/amusement arcades. And some of those who were on the beach yesterday will be back at work in July, maybe in hospitality or as hairdressers.
Besides, I doubt we'll get many days like yesterday in terms of weather.
Question Author
Neither of you have got an answer then really. Naomi, I'm not complaining, asking a question, and trying to make sense of two statements made by Boris and Matt, that are not going to get the economy back up and running.
Did you read my answer Teacake. And bhg's?
Question Author
10.13 I've not misunderstood the two statements, people may well be looking to book holidays now, in advance, this statement by Matt Hancock will change peoples plans for booking a staycation. Oh and there's millions that won't be going back to work, have you not heard?
So what's your suggestion Teacake? Close the beaches permanently, open them but limit access or allow a free for all? Allow hotels and resort cafes to open or leave them shut along with beaches to keep people away. Many of these places rely on tourism
//trying to make sense of two statements made by Boris and Matt//

Read them again. It's not difficult .... really it isn't.
Staycations don't all involve going to the beach. They can include hotels and walks in the Lake District or cottages in the Cotswolds or caravan parks or museums or city centre hotels
Question Author
naomi ,I did understand the statements, but the two don't go together to build the economy back up. ff your diverting away from my questions @ 9.59
Question Author
10.28 the subject here is the beach.
Question Author
Well I've had my hour now on AB, so off for a walk round my local lake, and then down to the river walk. Have a nice day all, may pop back for a look in tonight. :0)
Yes, but they won't all be at the beach when all the other options are available at seaside resorts (some will be in cafes, some in bars, some at hotel pools) and when other holiday options are available (countryside hotels, caravan parks, cottages in Cotswolds)
Teacake, you're making a mountain out of a molehill - and deliberately. There's no reason that anyone who actually thinks about it won't understand what's been said.
