No.

Nope.
The 50 islands and 180km (110 miles) stretch of coastline - amounting to an area the size of Belgium - will be developed to home luxury hotels and other necessary infrastructure which will exist under laws “on par with international standards” in an effort to draw tourists to the country, the government said Tuesday.

If they made laws in Saudi Arabia “on par with international standards” then I would but I fear I will be dead before that happens.

Why not?
Me neither
It seems a shame to develop pristine islands for the tourist dollar. It also seems rather hypocritical to allow westerners the freedoms their own people aren't allowed.
It's a no from me.
They can all Saudi off as far as I am concerned.
Absolutely not.

To be fair, I think many pristine islands have been developed for the tourist dollar
Saudis Arabia have strict rules and, to me, that means their govt agrees with them.

But in order to earn lots of money they are willing to change the law and rules for the resort are only.
They either believe their laws are just or they don't.

It's a unanimous No from here.
No.
No M.E. Islamic country for me and that includes Egypt and Tunisia.
I detest being pestered by beggars, enough over here, and I hate flies which are happy to settle on the brown stuff of which is plentiful from what I saw in the past.

You won't be pestered by beggers in the UAE/Saudi/Oman etc.
''Conservative social rules, a lack of alcohol and restrictive dress codes coupled with blazing desert heat aren’t the usual ingredients Western holidaymakers look for.'

Back to Newcastle next year then.
I'll go to the all women hotel advertised alongside with it...sounds interesting....
Yes, I would without a shadow of a doubt.
Rest assured the Saudis will develop these islands to a degree that will compete with any upmarket hotels.
Already in Saudi Arabia, there are luxury villas north of Jeddah on the Red Sea owned by Saudis where alcohol is served and the women bath in bikinis.
The attitude is that if the Westerner does not exploit the rules of the Kingdom then they will be left to live their Western life on those developed islands. In other words, behave yourself and you will be left enjoy your holidays, but misbehave, alcohol, drugs etc you will be off quicker than a missile.
Seems reasonable to me....YES I would certainly go on holiday to those Red Sea islands.
Probably find many a Princess offering their wares for a fee, Sqad, even certain single UK princesses???
DT...was that a typo, didn't you mean FREE?...;-)

I have told you that story ...haven't I?
Question Author
I heard a while ago that women will be able to bathe in the sea in bikinis but I haven't managed to find out if that will include the local Saudi women. I suspect that the area will attract foreigners and people from other areas of the Middle East. I hope Saudi women will be able to take advantage of the more liberal attitude there but I suspect that their ingrained modesty might not allow them to. I would certainly go there on holiday.
