LOW OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT
This light illuminates on the Nissan Micra to inform of low oil pressure and not low engine oil levels. If the low oil pressure light flickers or illuminates whilst driving, find a safe area to stop and turn off the engine immediately. Running the engine with low oil pressure can cause irreparable damage to the engine. Do not restart engine and seek the assistance of Nissan technician.
Or there is this
Nissan Micra K12 oil warning light - if illuminates when driving it means that the oil level is at the absolute minimum and needs to be topped up as soon as possible. If the oil symbol illuminates within 20 seconds of starting the engine it indicates that the oil level sensor is faulty and needs to be replaced. you can find replacement Nissan oil level sensors
I agree with Baldric that the oil can symbol (on its own) means low oil pressure but the accompanying 'Maintenance' sign suggests that the message is simply that your car is due for a service.
It's always worth checking the oil level - if it's FAR too low you will have no oil pressure and the warning lamp will light. If it's above the min mark on the dipstick then you have the problem that Baldric and Buenchico indicate.
I rang my AA recovery guy rather than drive it..... Turns out it's a oil and filter change reminder that's already pre set to 50,000 miles. So.... Nothing major but needs attention!
Thanks ALL for all your help! Very much appreciated! You are all, my best answers! :)))
