I´ve been with them 35 years, but when it comes to getting an Online account, seemingly impossible. I originally thought it was my fault, now i know it isnt, when i try to sign in, my password+ or username isnt recognised!!! I´m now on my 5th new password!! and yet another phonecall which is a joke in itself, because the requested numbers to press eg press 1, 2, 3 or 4 dont work properly.
should i change bank?

They are not all rubbish samblain. I have internet accounts with both First Direct and Nationwide and they are absolutely fine and I would unreservedly recommend them to anyone.

Hi piggynose. There seems to be a real problem in your case but just in case it may be worth getting someone you trust to have a go next time. I see this problem regularly- staff and students swear blind that their new passwords don't work and so eventually I type it for them and it suddenly works

factor30, i´ve just been looking at the halifax website, one excuse they give is that i might be trying to sign in during maintenance checks, so the site might be down. will take your advice, i´ll ask her indoors to sign in for me later

cheers

2sp, you cant even sign in with halifax until you´ve made a phonecall, answered the security questions, then they have to reset your new password, so in that case i shouldn´t in theory have any problems, i´ve even tried the old password.
If you haven't done it already, it might be worth clearing your cache completely on your browser, including deleting all saved passwords, before you try next time.
In defence of Halifax, I converted my husband to use them as Barclays fine for going overdrawn was so high. He is very computer illiterate, and a foreigner to boot, but he has only once had a problem signing in which they quickly sorted out for him. I have experienced Coop, Bank of Scotland and RBS in the past, but rate my Halifax experience as best so far - for ease of online banking which I do almost every day.
I bank with both Halifax and Santander and have never had any problems with them. Well..............maybe just one............never enough money in either!
best bank I have ever been with - stick with them!
