I got offered 780, I turned it down but they said I can have it as a goodwill gesture...I waited another 8 weeks to be told I`m not getting anymore out of them
I haven't had to do it myself, but have a look here:

http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/bank- charges
I claimed back 6 years of charges from the royal bank of scotland earlier this year and got every penny back within 4 weeks, but since then things have been slowere, i claimed late payment charges on my dorothy perkins store card and they came last week, only 50, got part of the cancelation fee back from my old mortgage too, the last one i had for 2 years and the one i had for 17 years, that was good, my son has had a few quid back from barclaycard for late payments, it is busier now than it was, so it takles longer, don't be put off by a first refusal or poor offer, reply and hold out for the lot.
yes....i got mine back.....and i followed that money saving expert, it was easy

good luck
It's good, isn't it, mrrobbo?

There's template letters to guide you, and also a calculator to help you work out the interest of each bank charge so you know exactly what you're entitled to claim back. Good luck!
that is the site I used as well, I sent of loads of claims, anything that i felt was wrong, some credit companies argued but i wrote back and said i would be contacting the ombudsman, not heard back yet though. It's not a lot of money, but it is satisfying lol
We got about 2/3 of the total amount back - which I would say is a success. We rejected the initial offer and took the second offer
I'm in the process of claiming back 3k from Natwest, just about to send the allocation questionnaire tomorrow - then have to go to court or wait for Natwest to hopefully settle. Fingers crossed.

This site is helpful too

Hi everyone -

Just another a couple notes on reclaiming your bank charges - you can claim over 6 years - the Limitation Act has to be defended by them if they want to reduce it down to the correct 6 years - this is the only way it can be enforced.

Claim for mental stress and trauma as well as other ancillary costs you think you may have incurred as a result of them 'unlawfully' applying charges to your account.

When they offer you your 'compensation' (whilst not admitting that the charges were incorrect, do bare in mind that they haven't actually paid back the charges, and so in theory, you could still take them to court and win by default.

Just a thought on the last one - it is correct but I didn't have the face to do it in my two claims as I had already got back more than the charges by asking for additional costs.

Good luck and I hope that some of you do try it and that these points are of some assistance.
