Claiming back bank charges - has anyone failed?

After all the recent media coverage about how banks overcharge their customers, I decided to have a go at getting back my charge/penalty payments.

All the TV programmes I've seen about claiming back bank charges/penalties said that the banks offered to pay some/most/all of the monies that people were claiming un-contested. Having seen that, I was confident that I'd be another "sucess story".

However, I've just received notification via the Courts that my bank are going to "defend all of the claim"! Has anyone else had this "result"?

Yes - it is common - and they will baulk at the last minute and pay up.

Excellent advice, templates and a forum here:

Thanks Ethel

That's the site I used in the first place! :o)

So I should "hang in there" then?
Yes! If it does get to court, you will be a lawmaker, and go down in the dusty archives of the lawbooks.

Bit it won't. Stick with it.

OK - I'll keep ya posted! :o)
Yes, please do. I will be pleased to hear they caved in at the last minute.

:)
I sent the letter and after 8 weeks I got offered 780

I rang them and said "No deal" to which the woman said she`ll put me onto "stage two" which basically means another 2-4 weeks wait while they re-assess my claim and hopefully up the offer and if I`m not satisfied with that then I can take them to court

She said they`ll pay me the 780 anyway as a goodwill gesture ....which they did :o)

Good luck!
