Hi, moved house recently and in process of gutting the new house so have no oven to speak of at mo, just two hobs! It's great fun...NOT! can't cook anything exciting. So have done bolognaise, meatballs, chilli, please can someone give me a new idea for using beef mince bearing in mind I dont have the use of an oven at the moment? Many thanks

You can substitute the steak and kidney for minced beef and mushrooms or onions in this recipe:

both good ideas, thanks v much
fry with onions garlic, bit of stock and reduce add sweetcorn and peas, make a home made coleslaw (or buy it!) toast some pitta's split add coleslaw, mince and top with grated cheese if you fancy
Savoury mince ..my own invention..basically a one pan meal.
Half a dozen shallots roughly chopped and saute in a little oil add a pound of mince one green pepper, one red pepper chopped roughly,a tin of toms,a tin of butter beans,an oxo cube and some fresh chopped parsley. and let it all stew for about an hour..serve with crusty bread.
Treat yourself to a slow cooker for pro tem..only about 20 quid and you can cook anything in them even jacket potatoes and joints of meat.I remember many years only having a two ring hob in a rented property when we lived abroad and the slow cooker was a godsend.Have never been without it since.
PS forgot to put ...a head of celery goes into that as well....chopped .
hey.. try making your own mediterranean style hamburgers!

just add that to your mince, kneading it well to blend them in, and shaping a few patties.

- freshly chopped basil/parsley
- some ground pepper and a pinch of salt
- very finely chopped onions
- a teaspoon of worcestshire sauce

Just grill/fry them, and serve them in buns with a portion of chips. you can always have salad with a drizzle of extra v. olive oil and add your favourite burger toppings.
taco's, burgers - add some garlic onion, herbs and tomarto sauce, buy something other than mince... chicken, sasuages, soup beans...
I lived for a year with no oven - it was hell, but I only realised how bad it was when we finally had our kitchen done.

You can make all the Chicken Tonight stuff on the hob, or I made jumbalya - fry some chicken, mix in some peppers, onion and sweetcorn. A jar of BBQ sauce, and some cooked rice. It should be like a sloppy stew. Lovely.

You can pretend you are making shepherds pie, just without putting it in the oven. Put the mash on the plate with it, and it's just the same!

Stick with it!!!
Taco Soup

1 Pound of Hamburger Browned & Drained

1 Pack Taco Seasoning

1 Can Rotel Tomatoes (has peppers in it)

1 Can Dark Red Kidney Beans

1 Can Corn Whole Kernel

1 Can of Water

Mix together & cook until it looks done.

After you put it in your bowl taste it, it is great that way and less fattening then put a big blob of sour cream in it and mix it up then taste it again.

Garnish with black olives, cheese, onions, chives whatever makes you happy.
