Happy New Year,

Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

I hope you all had the Christmas and New Year you wished for, don't know about you but I over-indulged (and it was yummy).

Let's get back to basics what are you favourite and most helpful diet tips? Things that have worked for you.

Well, all - having proved that self will is no good for me, I've just signed up for 3 months for Weightwatchers on line. If you sign up before 12 Jan, they are waiving the registration fee, thus saving nearly £30.... I'll keep you posted!
That's what I was thinking of doing Boxy - have tried on my own but need the routine of a class to keep me on the straight and narrow. Having a liquid only day today after seriously overindulging last night. Lemon in water, fruit drinks and soup for me today.
Hello all. I put on 3 pounds over Christmas. I feel better for getting that off my chest. :-) I'm going to get back to my healthy eating now.
I have an idea marijn that you will be one of those who put on the least!!
I'm calling for a real gathering of the clan on Wed. so get those scales in place again and dusted off! I think that includes the naughty step also.

I'm too scared to get on the scales. All I know is that my uniform doesn't fit my anymore :o(((

Planning to start something next week as I'm on leave. Hopefully that will get rid of a few lbs.

It seems I went up 1¾ lbs over the Xmas period. No doubt I'll have dropped that by Wednesday then.
Just popped in to say hello and a belated happy new year to all. Sorry I haven't been around for a while due to a few health problems and struggling with my depression so been having a break from dieting. Weighed myself last Thursday and had put 9lb back on so decided to get back on the wagon although still a few problems to sort out. I am going to carry on again with the Wednesday weigh-ins so will pop back in then.
Hello Jan nice to see you back. Don't worry because the weight that you have lost over the past 2 years that is nothing to worry about and I am sure you will rectify it . Sorry to hear about your health problems and hope that you will get over this . Take care and keep with us . I dread to look at the scales tomorrow.
Awww good to see you all here ready for a group hug in the morning! We're gonna need "considerably bigger steps" this week I fear. But safety in numbers and I feel confident that if we start as we mean to go on, 2014 will be a successful year for us all. I'd like to lose a stone before the first daffodils bloom in the garden...there's a challenge for myself. Be back in a few hours with my weigh in.

I am first on the step this week. I haven't weighed in for 3 weeks and have gained 2lb in that time. Not too unhappy with that under the circumstances and definitely ready for some lighter options again after the riches of the season.
Well done xstitcher and move over and put the kettle on Maydup but pleasantly surprised with just 2lbs gain . I have started on Monday and will try and match you with a stone. Happy healthy and weight loss new year all.
I am sure that by next week both Wendilla and Mayup will have kissed those 2 lbs goodbye. I have recently gone down one size on top and am trying to shrink my tops to fit me and by mistake shrunk the one in my now size aargh.
Due to an inexplicable 1¼lb rise over the last 24 hours (?!?!) It seems I went up 3 lbs over Xmas/New Year after all. But I choose to believe I went up 5 lbs and have lost 2 this week ;-)

Probably not helping I've yet to return to porridge / cereal for breakfast, 2 slices of toast again today. I'm sure I'll be back in the swing of it soon though.
It's nice to see everyone back again. I had put on 3lb over Xmas, but I've lost 1 and a half pounds today, so I'm pleased about that:-).
