My vet suggested sardines in oil after I'd tried all the ointments and shampoos. Worked like a dream.

There is a steroid spray called cortavance that he's helped my dog. It is metabolises at the site, in the skin so you don't get the usual steroid side effects and it can be used long term
Sorry to be thick but what is a gsd ? I do wish people on here would stop using abbreviations. Ron.
German shepherd dog Ron.

My neighbour added evening primrose oil to her itchy dogs food & it helped.
Lottie,my lab,had quite dry skin and since she's been on daily salmon oil (made by Kronch) her skin and coat are amazing and she hardly moults at all. I recommended it to a friend whose dog has terrible skin problems and it's also worked a treat. It's the 'body' oil,not to be confused with cod liver oil.
