OH has hurt his foot. He said it's been a bit sore for a few months now. The last few days it's got really bad and he's in a lot of pain. Don't know what the cause is.

Should he go to his GP or straight to the minor injuries clinic at hospital? I presume his GP (bit of a trek) would send him for an xray...Hospital is just a few mins away.

Also.........any tips on shutting up his moaning........<<<<<<that's actually more important. I might have to kill him.!!!!

It's a little clinic for non emergencies. Bit like normed.
Clinic for "non emergencies" is your GP.

Come the cutbacks, all this expensive cr@p just to provide jobs for the boys will be abolished, saving millions of pounds.

I know Sqad...but if his doctor is anything like mine he'd send him for an xray. So should we travel 3 miles in one direction to have to travel 3 and a bit back?
We have a drop in centre where we live for such things.

I think that's what it more or less is Greedy....to free up A&E.
ummmm....yes,

3 miles both ways? That is the problem with the NHS, people expect too much.
6 miles for treatment of a minor disorder is nothing.
Many people in many countries may travel 30, 40 or miles for medical care.
C'mon.....6 miles?.......I presume he will have a car?
Yeah... they have a nurse or two and one doctor and you go and wait and its open all day and most of the evening too. Much more useful than my doctors who is only open when you are at work and if you are ill you have to book a week in advance lol
Greedyfly....what sort of Health Service could afford to pay a doctor to sit all day for drop ins.BUT more to the point, what sort of doctor would want to sit all day waiting for "drop ins?"

Madness.
Sqad, stop being so anal, its irritating!!!
Drop in centre is busy all day every day Squad. I have never been in and not had to Q for less than an hour. So it must be successful!

He doesn't have a car........It's broken :-(

His doctors use appointment only whereas mine is same day appointments. He has money so taxi's are not an issue.

I was more wondering about the likelihood of them sending him for an xray....so would we be better off going to the clinic at the hospital. Not being lazy, just trying for the most practicle.
Being practical is obviously too time consuming Ummmm =)
Question Author
Obviously.......he's still asleep.
Could be worse ummmm. In some parts of the world you'd have to walk for 2 or 3 days to join a queue to see a medic.
But we are not in those countries. Thankfully.
ummmm.....it's been going on for "months" so a non same day appt. at your GP s doesn't seem to be unreasonable.
Greedyfly....some of those "countries" give a higher standard of health care than the NHS.

It is not the convenience to the patient that is important, it is the standard of medical care.

Sqad........grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

It's been a bit sore for months. As of yesterday he can't walk on it and is in extreme pain. This is a man that never moans so, like I said, it must be very bad.
Question Author
Mcmouse............as greedy said. This is England (great clash song)
Our drop in centre is both convenient and good in general. They have helped me when I had a terrible ear infection (they got me a prescription there and then, rather than waiting the weekend) they helped me when I got an infection in my leg from surgery - again prescription on a Saturday so I had no need to wait.

I would rather choose the centre over my surgery any day as I get seen when it is needed not when they can fit me in, they deal with the problem and prescribe what you need any day of the week and you can go when you are free.
