I am a bit superstitious, and I believe that when I see 1 magpie in the morning (1 for sorrow, 2 for joy etc) then I always end up having a pretty bad day.  If at the same time I see 2 magpies, then I know I'll have a fine day.

Am I a loony?

ok everyone its true i have no friends so i have a full on converstaion with the magpies!! (i have know typed this three times!!!)
and a full on conversation with yourself (above!), def a loony! back away from the computer, what have i told you Wonky!!!!

I'm another one of those unfortunate people who cant help but be taken in by the magpie thing.  But i've never really understood what saluting the magpie is actually supposed to do, I just do it out of habit and superstition now.  Can anyone explain it?

But if you're driving along and you see one magpie and then a few minutes later you see another,is that 2 magpies for joy or a double dose of sorrow-bringing single magpies? Also,I passed a single squashed magpie one day and was worried that that would be extra bad luck!
What's a magpie? A crow? A raven? A pigeon? Please do explain.
Hi Yinzer, a magpie is an unlucky bird that you should salute and touch something black when you see it! Don't follow others advice...naming no names...and wish them a good day or, as some strange folk do....have full on conversation with them!!!
What does it mean when you see one magpie and an hour later you see two?
I see magpies everyday and I just think how lucky I am to be able to see them so frequently.  We don't have many conversations though!

I used to believe that I'd have bad luck all day if I saw 1 magpie and didn't salute to it or something - ? - but  I saw one when I was in the middle of doing my reversing on my driving test and obviously couldn't do anything, and I passed my driving test!

How sad do I sound!

When I was pregnant I was talking with some friends about the possible sex of my baby, she was laid in a 'boy' position so that was everyones favourite.  Suddenly three magpies flew down and landed in front of us.  I now have a gorgeous daughter, however there are so many magpies about I do not follow the prophetic aspect unless something obvious like that happens
I would have still saluted it while on the driving test! Probably done it subtly like pretend to scratch my head or something. I'm quite sad like that!!
