Hi crunchie - I get it about once a year unfortnately. Stress is def a big problem but Aclivor tabs help if taken at the first sign of symptons.

It's awful - I had it first when I was 10 and it only startd again when I was 38ish.

Do I need to be off work? I'm a teacher.
Yes, if you have shingles you can cause chickenpox in those who haven't already had it.
You need to be off because it is such a painful and debimitating condition, and you need complete rest to get over it.

I sympathise, I had it once, and I found there were two stages - first I was afraid I might die, then I was afraid I might not!!!

It's not necessarily that bad andy - my bro-in law was, like you, very unwell but a friend (who worked with the public) was signed off for 3 weeks & she was over it in a few days!

(I have migraines like that - I'm dying/please let me....) :o)
