Does anyone know what a babys blood pressure should be at 10 months old?

A friend of mine took her baby for an appointment at hospital today. at her appointment the blood pressure on her arm came back very low twice, 44/52 and 46/53, then when they put it on her leg it came back high at 118/102. The doctor said no more about it other than to advise my friend to get it check at GPs.

Does anyone know what it should be?

What an extraordinary story. Did your friend take her baby for an antenatal appt, or was it for a specific reason? In the first year of life, the BP of a baby rarely exceeds 100mms of Hg systolic and lower figures are quite common in normal babies. BUT Systolic figures of 44 and 56 are exceedingly low and at that level the kidneys would stop working. However I question the readings as
a) the diastilc ( 2nd figure) is higher than the first (Systolic) and this is impossible.
b) If the BP results were meaningful they would have kept her in.
c) if she is a thriving baby and the hospital appt was routine, then tell your friend not to worry.

it was an appt with a peadiatrician following a slight fit she had a week ago, the GP had referred them to the hospital

the paed was not concerned and told my friend to see GP if she was worried about it.

So of course now she is trying to find out what it should be and if it could really have changed so dramatically in the duration of one appointment.
Thanks redcrx, with that information, my comments remain unammended. Tell your friend not to worry, or go and see her GP again.
