is it true that its dangerous to pick a mole off your skin or accidently damage it (cut)? Not the animal, the little spot-type-thing!

Not 100% on this but iv'e heard you can bleed to death if one comes off, although i can't quite believe that. I'd be interested to know myself as im going to ask about getting one on my back cut off. I'm forever catching it with the towel when drying myself.
Hmmm bleed to death - unlikely me thinks. They generally grow back. But usually if a mole is 'bobbly' (prominant from skin) and gets in the way so that you either catch it or want to pull it off then it is easier to have it removed. Go to your GP and they will freeze it and whip it out within minutes depending where it is.
If this did happen, it would be best to consult your GP straight away, just be on the safe side.
Recently had a mole ( brown and fairly flat) that got itchy and when I scratched it came off. I did not bleed to death...obviously! I was rather alarmed at first but it healed quickly (no scar)and it hasn't returned...so far. It was rather a shame because it made the top point of a pentagon with four other moles on my arm! However, I do plan to see the GP, just in case.
If you have an persistantly itchy mole you should see your GP. It can (RARELY) be an indicator of skin cancer.
No I don't think it's particularly dangerous. I don't believe you can bleed to death either. If you accidently cut it, it will heal like a normal scab probably. See the doc just in case though.
The only ones you should be worried about are ones that are all of the following: - bleed with out you cutting them - non-uniform shape that often changes - ones that are black - itchy ones Just to be sure though it is quite easy to get them removed and doctors do recommend, i think ,that you do this with big ones.
I've picked one of mine off before and nothing happened, it didn't grow back either.
It is dangerous to pick at a mole, I had one on my arm and when I was young I was forever picking and biting at it, I must have aggrivated it and it began to change in size. I had it removed which was painless. Always best to check them out with your doctor as they can become cancerous.
My husband had a mole and it tore off, he didnt bleed to death.
hey, i have a mole on the side of my head and i just picked it then and thought nothing would happen but instead it started to bleed and went down my face. I panicked, im terrified right now as it just happend. So i quickly went into the bathrom and wiped the blood off and put some cold water on the mole to stop the bleeding.

It has stopped now and looks ok but i went on google to search for some answers and stopped here, Thanks for your comments guys, im starting to calm down now as its nothing to worry about.

Thanks,
G:)
Do not pick the mole, you should get the mole examined by a qualified dermatologist to make sure it isn't malignant. There are various ways to get the mole removed. The type and size of your mole will most probably decide which procedure to go for.
