Does anyone agree with me and believe that people in general are getting more and more promiscuous? Why is that? Is it the media?...trash TV?...women's lib? Sex on the first date is not that uncommon these days!

What's the deal?

I think that a lot of it is down to TV which corrupts viewers who in turn make this so common that others take it as normal and copy. ALL television programmes these day set out to show most of their characters as promiscuous so children just take it as the thing to do.
Having grown up in the 60's and 70's I can't agree... The era of 'free love' broke down so many Victorian barriers that there is no bench mark now. You may also have noticed that the youth of today are far more aware of safe sex.... whether they pactice it or not is another matter
womens lib?? that cause people to be promiscuous?? Good God
I don't think people are getting more promiscous, i just think that it is more openly talked about.
Having lots of sex with different people has always been around, it's just that society is more open.
Women's lib is not about having more sex, it's about the freedom to choose and that was 30 years ago!
More promiscuous than when?

At the end of the day, there are more options for women available now to stop themselves becoming pregnant, sex is portrayed more in the media and the social double standard of women having to keep themselves 'pure' while blokes $hag anything that moves is being broken down (to an extent - I know there is still the stud vs. $lag double standard).

So yes, I think we are becoming more promiscuous, but I don't think it's neccessarily a bad thing.
Look at Friends for example, a programme aimed at a youngish audience, very funny and a favourite programme, but they always seemed to have sex on a first date - what kind of example does that set?
I always get really angry when you go to tesco say for example and there are mens magazines placed at a level where young kids can see pics of almost naked women on the covers. Put on a music channel for the kids, and there is some scantily clad woman on there. Put a programme on the tv, and there is always some sexual content, often early evening.

Whether people are more promiscuous, I don't know. But its much more in your face...so to speak.

The act of sex is the greatest and most loving act of bonding you can do with another person. To go knobbing on your first date ?

When you've given the ultimate, what is there special left to give.

These may be outdated views, toot toot toot these are outdated views, sod off, oh alright then :(

To mycats:
I meant women's lib in terms that women want to be able do things men do. In this case it's indiscriminate sex. With not double standards(which is as it should be). But in this case do women really want to emulate men? Is sex not suppose to mean sometime? What kind of examples are we setting for today's generation? (Lots of teens consider oral sex to be small time stuff.) I just wish both men AND women would take the time to get to know each other first. Just one person's opinion.
To everbody else:
Thanks for the input. Very intersting. Keep 'em coming!
