What else denatures (kills) yeast cells apart from high temperatures?

Does pH?

Age also kills yeast. If you have any that has sat in the fridge for a while, "proof" it before using it.
PS. I would think that pH would also: most living organisms have an extremely narrow pH range in which they can survive.
how do you know there are more people here than looking at science?

to acknowledge that you are posting in the wrong section and then do it anyway... um... no. Maybe the reason more people are using this section is because they are only interested in body and soul related questions and wish to avoid science related yeast questions - so really your are just being impolite and ignoring the rules. SO if you meant it when you asked whether it was alright with me then the answer is NO
