Has anyone successfully given up smoking by reading any of his books? Was given one as a Christmas present a couple of years ago but haven't got round to reading it yet.

I bought one, read the first 5 pages. I don't think I was really ready..
I have read it and it made complete sense, still haven't given up though, think it is like OBonio says, you need to be ready and in the right frame of mind.

good luck.
My Wife read it and it worked!
read the book just after xmas..what a load of b******S.
First of all Allen Carr gave up smoking through hypnosis and not by anything he menions in his own book (which is actually quiet little). What he says actually comes down to this...stop smoking and pay money to come to one of my clinics and buy more of my books.
He starts of his book by saying that he isnt going to use scare tactics such as highlighting the dangers of smoking and then proceeds to constantly highlight the dangers of smoking. How to cope with cravings? cold turkey. What if I start smoking again?stop again. This book is a croc of cr*p.
From the first 5 pages that I did read, I figured pretty much what wizard69 has said. It works for some people though, obviously.

I figured it wouldn't be as easy as just reading a book!

toonmilo, do you think your wife would have given up anyway or did the book really have that much effect?
If you haven't got the willpower to read the book, where are you going to find the willpower to give up?

Not too sure PB, was just wondering if the book was worth reading. Still not sure I'm mentally ready to quit
I read it and it really worked. Like others said, you do need will-power as well and think about what he is saying in the book. He changes the way you think about smoking rather than telling you to think it is bad. You can't expect to read the words on the page and you will miraculously quit. If there is some-one else you could give up with, this might help to encourage one another and re-inforce points made in the book.

Good luck.
