I am a 15 year old girl, i will be 16 in September and i really would love to have my belly button pierced, the trouble is that both of my parents strongly disagree to any form of 'defacing the body' becasue they say that when i am older it will look silly! But i want to have it pierced regardless of what they say! At what age is it legal to have a piercing without parental permission???

Listen to your folks. Piercings other than the ears are a very cheap and quite awful.

Do you really want to look like a strumpet at such a young age?

The law is 16 BTW, but advice from a man who regrets his tattoo everyday of his life, extraneous body adornments are a big NO-NO.
I have my belly pierced Wardy :-(
Oh dear. A piercer, a smoker and a darts wife wannabe. You are not selling yourself ummmmmmmmmmmmmm.

But no doubt you are an Irish Princess.
Thank you xxx

I swear I do not wear gold.....honest
It's legal at 16.

When I was 14 I wanted the top of my ear pierced. My mum said if I still wanted it at 16, then I could. Then, when I got to 16, I didn't want it, I wanted my eyebrow pierced. My mum said, when you're 18 you can get it done. When I was 18 I though "urgh, thats so tacky" and never had either. Instead I went and got a tattoo done, which at 25, surprise surprise, now looks tacky.

What I would say is that a belly piercing can be discreet (when you need it to be). If you ever get bored of it you can just take it out and let it heal over. No harm done. I'd say go for it (at 16, obviously). Good luck, and take care of it or it'll get infected ;o.
I have my belly pierced, my mum was dead against it even though I was about 25 when I had it done haha.

At least it's one of the more hidden piercings so to speak. I do warn you though it's not like having your ears pierced and it can be very painful and uncomfortable for quite a while after (can be for a couple of months) and you really need to take care of it afterwards. Also, if you have it done be careful with the studs you buy, many have quite sharp edges which will dig into you or bits that can get caught on things and pull it.

See how you feel when you're 16 but would be better to do it with your parents support when you're so young. Maybe say you can choose a nice discreet pretty little stud for it together so they feel happier.

Make it clear that although you can legally go and get it done without their consent you want to be adult about it and talk it through with them. Saying you'll wait and see how you feel when you're 16 could show you're being more grown up about it.

Pink, think about it!! if you do have it done, go to a good piercer, not the cheapest!!! I have piercings and tattoos, and never regretted any of them, Some people cant help being stuck in the past!! there will always be people who will look down their nose at you with the "I'm holier that though" look, just rise above it and lead your own life, but remember, always try and see it from your parents point of view as well and avoid falling out with them if possible.

Good luck!!!
Should have read *"I'm holier than though" sorry!!!
thou infact.
Wardy, you are hardly in the position to to criticise anybodies spelling, now are you!!! you can hardly write a sentence without a spelling mistake. Move on wardy!!
ratter i was not criticising. It is just when i see a correction which in itself is wrong and a repeat of the mistake, I thought it amusing. For somebody who keeps harping on how chilled their life and attitude is, you really have to take a look at what you profess dear chap.

Like I said wardy, move on!!

Like I said, take a look at what you profess.
wardy, run along, i don't want to see you throwing your toys out of the pram again, last time it was so humiliating for you!!
ratter, I make a comment about your correction which to any normal person would appear rather amusing. I am not questioning your spelling (as I never do anybodies). Without fear of throwing the same insults back in to your face, I strongly suspect it is in fact you who are the humiliated one.

I am seldom wronk in these matters.

* sorry, I mean "I am seldom wronk in these matters"

Oh dear, what a world we live in when somebody who bleats on and on how laid back, relaxed and chilled they are, become paranoid and insulting after a little banter. Tut tut, shame on you Buddha.
Wardy, if it was a remark made in good faith and meant in a humorous manner than I apologise, but due to past history, I naturally assumed it to be a dig at me!
Like I said, I apologise if I am wrong.

I have noticed a big change in you wardy, a far more pleasant person, not without fault though, but who is? I admit, we can all be arrogant I suppose and yes that also includes myself!!

So maybe bygones should be bygones?

There isnt actually a legal age limit for piercing. A good piercer wont do it under about 14/15 though because, if you havent finished growing it might migrate.
my son wants his eyebrow done and my piercer said he has to wait 4 years lol (he is only 10)
