When and why was the last time you were scared? I don't mean scared like you thought you saw a spider on the carpet... I mean real fear!

Hi Ruby,

just over 3 years ago we got the phone call all parents dread, "your son has been in an accident" when we got to the Hospital,we found out a trench had collapsed on him and he had broken his back in 3 places and his hip bone had broken off, we thought he would be paralysed,it was the worst moment of my life, thankfully he is recovering well and walking about,he has to have a Hip replacement, but god it could have been a lot worse, Ray
2 years ago when I was diagnosed with cancer ... nothing scares me now ... been scared, done that
On horse riding holiday in Botswana in May, when suddenly heard screaming behind me. Thought that someone had fallen off, only for horse to appear next to me with rider intact just yelling 'lions!'. Got head together and achieved top speed whilst guides chased lions off. Spent rest of week not too far away from guide...

When we lost our daughter, (she's Autistic and doesn't speak), we were on holiday, just got back to the chalet, put the shopping down, turned round, and she was gone, we'd left the door open, but couldn't have been more than ten seconds, panic, I think its the only time in my life i've done that, the whole camp came out to look for her, the police came, I think it took probably about thirty minutes before we found her, sh'd gone out of our open door, through the open door next to ours, and thats where she wasm, happily squatting on the floor, shredding all his papers, the relief just washed over me, and the chap, who had been helping us look for her, didn't mind at all.
A few weeks ago when I got to work and thought I had left the iron on at home - while it was on the carpet!!!

Spent the whole day feeling sick with fear. When i got home, I found I hadn't left it on! to say I was relieved was an understatement!
Hi ray, glad you're back too ... you're right about the perspective of things .. I'm all clear now (touch-wood), and have found that not much in life worries me anymore ... it certainly changes yoour view of what's important...

I was more than a little nervous when some psycho attempted to get money out of me on the street at the weekend, by threatening to push a sharpened stick through my eye if I didn't. He didn't get any.
When my son, then aged 18mths, stopped breathing after his first febrile convulsion and I had to resuscitate him. He is fine now.
