Im not sure what to do, i think i may have a genital problem but have a HUGE fear of doctors.

It doesnt hurt "down there" or anythign, but i need to wee like every 30 mins, and when i do i get really itchy like inside. the skin around is quite itchy too. Is it just an irritation tosomething or should i go see a doctor?

any advice would be appreciated, thanks x

it sounds like it could be cystitis, so you can get stuff from the pharmacy - BUT to be certain you really should see your doctor, maybe try cystitis remedies and expalin your symptoms to the pharmasist, then see your doc if they persist x
In the meantime, drink as much water as you possibly can.

This dilutes the urine and reduces the irritation.
Didn't explain very well, sorry.

Drink a glass of water or two as often as you can until you see the gp or get medication from the chemist.

the weeing sounds like cystitis but the itching could be thrush?
Isn't cranberry juice good for cystitus?

But you really should go see a doctor, better to get it prescribed proper meds.

Good luck
Cranberry is very good, yes.

Also, as a temporary measure - a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda in a pint of water will help.
Do you get itching with cystitis...?

Metz is probably right.

And it is usually sore or painful when you wee,
if it is cystitis. Thrush is usually itch, scratch, itch, scratch plus a little discharge that pongs!

As already said Cranberry Juice is excellent (not just for cystitis).
One way or another you HAVE TO get over your doctor phobia. Like the rest of us, you'll have to see the doctor now and then, and it could be a case of life or death, sooner or later. Don't waste any more time being a victim of this phobia. Take action - whatever action you think will help (difficult to advise what will help you since a phobia is so personalised).

As a starter, you could try visualising the visit, going through it in detail in your mind, making it as real as you possibly can, and coping with it easily (yes, you can, in your imagination!). If you do this time after time you might be surprised how quickly the whole thing starts to lose its dread. Also, make the doctor figure (whether it's someone you know, or just 'a doctor') a vaguely ridiculous character, someone you find funny, odd, pathetic, weird or in some other way harmless. This'll take the 'sting' out of your imaginings. I hope this helps.

thanks everyone...
and im taking this as a unanimous "yes" to going to the doctor...

alas all things come to an end... and i am aware that the fear cant last forever... i was just avoiding confronting it as long as possible... heh... ah well..

thanks again x
It sounds like it could be a urinary tract infection of some sort or another. If it's left unchecked it could possibly spread and cause a kidney infection. So yes, a trip to your doc is absolutely necessary to be on the safe side.
My dad is a doctor and when he was a GP he saw stuff like that everyday.I know it is hard but the Doctor will look at you with doctor's eyes and will just see it in medical terms. It is nothing new for the doctor. No more unusual then plastering a leg up.
1st- if you want to get over your fear of doctors- ring to speak to doc & expain phobia & ask if you can come in after surgery & meet him/her properly & have a look around. once you are more informed about a fear it usually lessens & also the fear of something is always worse than the thing itself.
2nd- the doc will prob ask for a urine sample so may be an idea to take one with you as its hard to wee on demand
3rd- if you really cant face it & need proper medical advice, then ring the nhs helpline (in phonebook) & they will get a nurse to call you back who will listen to your symptoms & poss make diagnosis over the phone.
4th- whatever you do, do something as its not nice to scratch your bits all day! good luck.
