I think this currently has the status of Urban Myth, Priesty.... lots of scientific speculation about the effects of infrasonic waves, but despite several experiments, no actual proof of the effect.

Brown-nose means 'to curry favor (from) in an ingratiating way.

The common kiss (someone's) ass 'curry favor with someone in a degrading manner' .

Some people, unaware or unsure of its origin, don't consider it offensive at all, but at worst I would say that it is only mildly offensive. It is definitely slang, though, so may not be appropriate in many circumstances.

Brown Noise, they explained, was a sound that resonated at the same natural level as your colon, thereby stimulating your poop. They even told you the frequency and decible level you need to play it.

They played it to a guy in a portaloo, then went back to see what had happened. Actually, they never really revealed what had happened, the presenter just made some comment like, "better get the mop".
