Magazines (and beauticians) tell you to cleanse, tone and moisturise daily. Please could someone explain/recommend the type of products you would use to do this?

A cleanser, you can choose a wash off one or a lotion you take off with a cotton wool pad. Tone with a toner, applied with a cotton wool pad, loads out there cheap to mega expensive, expensive does'nt always mean best, then moisturise, again lots to choose from. You have to take into account your particular skin type and choose the products to suit.

i use clinique 3 step. Its very good but the toner can be a bit harsh on some skins, so if you have good skin anyway Lancome do a lovely moisturising toner its pink cant remeber what its called.

go and have a chat with the clinique lady its very good really, its expensivish 50 for the first outlay but thats gonna last you a few months.

a cleansing wash, and nivea - forget the toner - not necessary and can dry your skin.

forget the expensive stuff too, its no better

Cleansers are normally soap-free creams. Using a good cleanser - rinse off well. Don't bother with toners. I have used the most expensive ones and are they are unnecessary. Moisturisers soften and can make your skin look and feel healthy. They can also offer protection against pollution, etc. Clarins range are my favourites. I have tried several brands and always end up using Clarins again. Clarins do give samples to try.

If you are young, then use a simple product - preferably with more plant extracts than chemicals.
depends on your skin type, toner acts as an exfoliant so if your skin is greasy or very dry it is an absolute necessity. I used to have bad skin and if I could post a picture I would. My skin is pretty perfect, people stop and ask me about it all the time.
Good old fashioned water has always worked for me :-) I find that any products just cause allergies.

Anne French is a good wipe-off cleanser. Then use any toner (Boots do good less-expensive ones). This removes any excess cleanser and left over dirt. Make sure you use a moisturiser that is for your skin type (oily, dry etc). If you don't know your type, use one for 'normal' skin. If your skin feels greasy after 15mins, you probably have oily skin so get a different moisturiser. Likewise, if after 15mins your skin feels taut, you probably need one for dry skin.

I always use less expensive cleanser and toner (a couple of pounds), then spend more on moisturiser (15-20) as this is the one that is left on your skin.
